Red vibes

Because I had to bring work for our Duo exhibition in Katwijk, we were in nearby Noordwijk for a few days. It is always difficult to plan, because you just have to hope that the weather will cooperate. But luckily it did ;-). A bit windy and busy with people, but I was able to work wonderfully. This Paintbox painting was also born there...

Wind & Bulbs

Took the chance to paint for a few days in Noordwijkerhout, it was really chilly and the wind was blowing pretty hard. But luckily I have my little pochade and I could still paint wonderfully in the shelter of the car. The way people react en masse to the fields seems to get crazier and crazier every year. No one seems to know how not to walk between the balls.

Last snow?

A bizarre weather change caused a kind of snow storm to set up at the end of the day on Friday. What I didn't expect was that it stayed down for a long time on Saturday despite the lovely sun...

Sunshine

Fortunately, the sun really shows itself again, there is no wind, so it is a joy to stand on the waterfront of my beloved Berkel. The banks have been mowed, but the new reed tops already give the world a fresh green spring color...

Sun and cold

Working at Landgoed Dorth with finally a lovely sun again :-). It is really chilly, but with the sun in my face and this wonderful view it is easy to keep up. A passer-by saw me working and wondered why I wasn't wearing gloves. I always have them with me and I really use them when necessary, but I prefer not to. "Isn't the cold bothering you then?" she asked. "Nope" I smiled, "I don't notice it". "Well then you are really in your element" said the friendly woman. She said well I later realized...

Bird friends

Finally some snow fell last night! When I got up the garden was covered with a thin layer of snow. And yes that only means one thing to me... quickly get dressed and go out, because then the white world is still at its best...

Winter love

The world is white, cold, but also so beautiful... I had to get out and start painting. This time with my favorite willows. Nature is white with frost and that makes me warm again. In the distance a cyclist arrived who already shouted from a distance "that can only be one who is going to paint now"...

Badgers sleep

Today I am back at the place where I saw a family of badgers play a number of times last summer. The corn is gone and I have a clear view of their castle in the distance again.

Frost

It's starting to get really cold now, the thermal clothing can be put on again, take some coffee and I went into the field. Fortunately there is not much wind so it is easy to pack well ...

New!

Just like last year, a new large double A4 (29.7 X 42 cm) calendar can be ordered. Each month houses a different painting from the season. The calendar is printed on heavy glossy premium paper. Nice as a gift? That is of course also possible. When ordering, please indicate who it can be sent to and it will be packed on its way to the recipient.

Summer wave

While walking with my dog Amy I already came across this field and immediately said to myself, I will definitely come back here. And no sooner said than done :-) today was the day. Despite the heat, I was able to paint peacefully there...

Dragonfly alley

It was a nice warm summer day today and therefore a pleasure to paint outside. Due to the persistent drought, the ocher tones are already well on the way, but on the waterfront it was not too bad...

Last day

The weather gods were so good to us this week, it's already the last day of Schilderfestival Noordwijk. The working conditions were ideal sun, sea and not too much wind, so we were able to paint a lot together...

Flower zone

It was a short walk and it is quite warm, but at the end of the boulevard along the cycle path I found a special spot. The cyclists flash past me, but I only have eyes for this piece of nature. An interested cyclist paused with me for a while and together we had a very nice and intense conversation...

Purple haze

It is Monday afternoon and I have just arrived in Noordwijk. I have already reported to the same B & B from last year where I will stay again with great pleasure the next week. Then I leave for Beach Pavilion De Zeester where the festival will be held. Once arrived I don't have to look far...

Badgers home

Tonight I came home so excited. Yesterday I told you that I had seen one badger. Well, tonight it was three or four. When it started to get dark, a number of bubbles appeared from the edge of the forest, wow I thought it is a whole family...

Badger

Lazy on the couch or painting outside? So glad I made the right choice tonight. After struggling through the masses of flowers and plants, I was able to paint in peace. This time a lone swan was my bodyguard....

Sonja Brussen brush set!

As a full time plein air artist I work in all weather conditions and seasons. My work is recognizable by the thick layers of paint and the firm brushstroke. So I have some demands on my painting gear and brushes. That I would love to share that with you!

Mini U.G.O pochade box

Hike & Paint might be the best way to keep fit ;-), but with my new U.GO 6"x 8" (small)  it's really great! I now only have a tiny backpack with all my stuff on my back and that broadens the field of work even more...
