Once back from Noordwijk I could catch my breath at home and on Saturday 29 June I left for Katwijk again for Katwijk en plein air 2024. And yes, it might be boring to tell, but it is also a great festival! The weather was good and I worked a lot in the dunes.

What also touched me during the painting week was the fact that a humpback whale was seen at the coast of Noordwijk. Unfortunately, I was unable to spot it myself, despite the fact that I spent a lot of time painting on the water line. The funny thing was that at the beginning of the week we already were joking about painting a whale in it.

It is Monday June 17th and I take my stuff out of the car and walk down the beach entrance on my way to the festival grounds. It has become a tradition to show a small painting on the opening night and my plan is to make a small work. But uhm, no, I don't even make it to the tent )), because my dear colleagues and friends are streaming in from all sides, so the work gets neglected.

Back at my tulip office on a beautiful sunny Saturday. Found this field and could stand quietly at the edge, but oops quiet??? :-)))

The sun is shining brightly and I was lucky enough to find this tulip field. I was able to paint there in peace and quiet, which is extraordinary these days. The bulb farmer greets me kindly and also goes further with his own business quietly.

Finally the weather is getting better, so I go out this sunny Sunday. It is busy with walkers who come to look every now and then, but hidden between the reeds I can continue working. The coots say hello and a pair of geese flies over to find the ultimate landing spot.
